Backyard Kitchen - A More Enjoyable Way to Cook and Entertain

A backyard kitchen is an outgrowth of today's modern life. Families are staying home more as traditional entertainment becomes more and more expensive. Besides, what is more fun than a backyard party, where most of the cooking is done outside?

Really, if you have a place where you can plumb gas, power and water, then build a great area in the back yard for a great new outdoor kitchen. Get a brand new gas stove with grill, install cabinets and countertops with a sink and storage. Add an under the counter refrigerator and an ice machine and you are practically there. You can add a pizza oven, a Chinese oven or a host of other things.

If the area is large enough for a table and chairs, screen it in, and you will have a perfect place for both small and large parties. Do count your family as a party when you are cooking and eating outside.

Screening the area allows you a quiet place to cook, eat or just serve without the bothersome flies which always find picnics or outdoor parties. You can use this extra kitchen to do your baking in the summer time, if you wish. It would keep the extra heat out of the main house. This is a trick that has been used for centuries and is just now being rediscovered by the adventurous. Seriously, it is a great space for doing your baking outside. Your entire property will be filled with the aroma of baking bread or pies.

Once you have experienced outdoor cooking on a 'regular' range, you will love it. backyard entertainment will take on a whole new meaning for you. Do not forget to have the grill set right into the cabinets. Gas grilling is fast, easy and really just as tasty as cooking over charcoal. This way you will use it all year-round. Grilled steaks, burgers, kabobs, all can be done if your outdoor kitchen has a roof over your head and a portable heater available. If you end up entertaining often or if your family just likes to have their meals outdoors, consider adding outdoor patio heaters to the area.

No matter how you configure the backyard kitchen, you will love being outside in the yard with the rest of your family or guests.
